Coated Seed

The process of coating grass seed started in the 1980. Hundreds of ingredients and substances have been used in thousands of trials. The target was to develop a coat on the one hand being strong enough to protect the seed and on the other hand being weak enough to dissolve when it came into contact with water and feed the seed all the nutrients bound in the coating. With the development of coated seed MG. 100 and 500 were born. Moregrass Coated Seed is now the market leader when it comes to repair work and over-seeding.

Fast forward to present day and this coated technology has been developed further for clovers. WASP clover coating is the new generation of coated seed. WASP – Water Absorbing Seed Process, this innovative seed coating includes a water absorber, which ensures permanent humidity and a fast and safe germination.

MoreGrass Grass Seed Mixtures

Each mixture is designed to suit the farmer’s individual needs and to work in a specific way. Gone are the days when a multi purpose mixture would be used across farm. The range of mixtures allows for greater flexibility which in turn eases the management of the grassland.

New Zealand Grasses

Knowing that New Zealand is one of the most cost effective milk producers in the world we looked to find a way of adapting some of there farming techniques for the Irish farmer.

What stood out was their use of “cool season active grasses”.

MoreGrass is working in partnership with PGG Wrightson Seeds who were heavily involved in developing the New Zealand grass based dairying system and these “cool season active grasses”. Through this relationship we have developed a number of mixtures with “cool season active grasses” This means the Irish farmer can extend there grazing by increasing growth in autumn and early spring.
