WASP COATED CLOVER BLEND
30% Coated White Clover
30% Coated White Clover
50 % large
* Blend includes medium and large clovers
* WASP coating technology for secure over seeding
* WASP Water Absorbing Seed Process
Viable Rhizobium strains are included in the seed coat.
The seed is inoculated and coated
- The coat protects the bacteria from UV-light and high temperatures.
- Bacterias are viable and inactive during the storage. Seeds can be stored up to one year without harming the strains.
- Bacterias are placed close to the seed and reach the young roots of the plant, when N-Fixation can start.
Over Seeding with WASP Clover
The most effective way of introducing clover into swards is by direct reseeding. Although sometimes where a full reseed is not necessary over sowing white clover into existing swards is possible. Over sowing clover can help maintain the long term productivity of swards.
Ground preparation
The ideal time to over seed a sward is directly after a silage cut where the existing grass is very low to the ground. You can also over sow clover into grazing swards which are open and very tightly grazed. It is a good idea to run a harrow over the sward before over seeding to help remove thatch and break up any soil compaction.
How to over sow
Over sowing involves broadcasting clover seed over the sward at a rate of 2kg–3kg per acre. This can be achieved by mixing the clover with a small amount of fertilizer such as 0:7:30 or Gran Lime and spread it in with a fertilizer spreader. It can also be spread using a slug pellet applicator. After over seeding harrowing or rolling again would be an advantage.
Maintenance
The most important recommendation which can greatly improve the success of over sowing white clover is tight grazing for the remainder of the year. The importance of this cannot be over emphasised. This grassland management system will allow for the full development of the clover plant
